Summary
The Tailor is responsible for delivering high-quality alterations, repairs, and pressing to ensure proper fit and presentation of garments for customers. This role combines expert workmanship with strong customer service to maintain the boutique's standards.
Responsibilities
- Ensure proper fit of garments through accurate measuring, marking, and pinning.
- Answer customer questions regarding alterations, fit, repair, cleaning, and care.
- Sew alterations and repairs within scheduled timeframes and customer expectations.
- Press and finish garments to a professional standard.
- Maintain the tailor shop appearance and keep supplies organized and stocked.
- Ensure sewing machines, pressers, and steamers are maintained and in working order.
- Use proper telephone etiquette, take messages, and communicate customer requests to management.
- Hang, store, and organize altered and unaltered merchandise; participate in store meetings and training.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a tailor, seamstress, or fitter with proven alteration skills.
- Ability to operate sewing machines, pressing and ironing equipment, and other necessary tools.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle heavy garments and garment bags.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organization, and follow-through skills.
- Ability to manage time and priorities in a fast-paced environment and work varied hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
