Summary
The Assistant Sales Department Manager supports the department manager to achieve sales and productivity goals while delivering exceptional customer service. This role recruits, trains and develops the team, drives sales through directive selling, and helps maintain merchandising and inventory standards at the NYC flagship.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, hire, train and motivate department sales team
- Assist department manager in developing and executing business plans to meet volume and productivity goals
- Coach salespeople to deliver outstanding customer service and lead by example on the sales floor
- Actively sell to build customer relationships and a loyal following
- Support merchandising and presentation standards in collaboration with management
- Assist with inventory management and achieving shrinkage goals
- Monitor and drive individual and team sales productivity and personal trade
- Work with divisional merchandisers and store leaders to maintain productive relationships
Requirements
- Proven track record of strong sales results and productivity
- Competitive drive and confidence to succeed in a commission-based environment
- Ability to set and achieve sales goals
- Experience developing relationships with department and store managers
- Strong organizational skills and follow-through
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Retail supervisory or assistant manager experience
