Summary
Build and operate services and internal user interfaces that support Nordstrom's product data ecosystem. This hybrid role focuses primarily on backend engineering, with work spanning Java microservices, React applications, and data systems at scale.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain microservices and product information management platform services.
- Build React-based tools for merchants, buyers, and data stewards to manage product catalogs and workflows.
- Improve product data quality through validation, canonicalization, and entity resolution.
- Own service reliability through observability, on-call participation, runbooks, alerting, and incident response.
- Contribute to architecture decisions, design reviews, and mentorship of other engineers.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience delivering backend services and frontend applications.
- Experience with Java, microservices, relational databases, and event-driven architectures such as Kafka.
- Production experience with React and TypeScript.
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD, and distributed systems concepts.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and ownership skills.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Engineering, or Data Engineering.
- Willingness to work onsite in the Seattle office at least 4 days per week.
