Summary
The Senior Manager of Employee Relations partners with P&O Business Partners and Legal to foster a human centered workplace, manage employee relations matters, investigate complaints, advise on policy and support accommodations. This role coaches leaders, facilitates difficult conversations, and helps implement corrective action to uphold fair workplace practices.
Responsibilities
- Respond to and investigate employee issues and complaints.
- Conduct inquiries into claims of discrimination, harassment and policy violations.
- Advise managers on corrective action and support implementation.
- Provide individual coaching on performance, misconduct and policy matters.
- Support legal in responding to subpoenas agency claims and lawyer correspondence.
- Partner on ADA workplace accommodations and engage benefits and legal teams.
- Interpret update and create HR policies as needed.
- Identify training needs and work with learning and development to deliver programs.
- Provide on-call employee relations assistance to P&O leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree; advanced degree such as Masters in HR or J.D. preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of employee relations or related experience; retail experience preferred.
- Strong conflict resolution mediation research and investigative skills.
- Ability to remain tactful calm balanced and persuasive in confrontational situations.
- Understanding of the employee lifecycle and performance management.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and experience with HRIS preferably Workday.
- Knowledge of federal and state labor laws and mandates.
