Summary
Responsible for forming and fabricating silver trophy, statement, and retail pieces from technical drawings, specifications, and SOPs. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and quality during fabrication and product development while supporting R&D and documentation. Works as part of a team to meet production goals and mentors apprentices as needed.
Responsibilities
- Interpret blueprints and production artwork to fabricate items to QA standards and prescribed timelines.
- Perform soldering using a range of torch types and solder compositions and apply proper solder sequences.
- Fit cast, die struck, machined, spun, and hand-fabricated components and minimize porosity using laser weld and filler wire.
- Operate and set up power equipment including draw bench, shears, band saw, presses, lathes, sanders, and spinning equipment.
- Hand-form hollow components, hallmark, raise and planish using hammers, stakes, and planishing tools.
- Use forging, chasing, punching, drilling, tapping, and threading tools to fixture and finish complex items.
- Document work instructions, capture in-process images, assist in writing SOPs, and provide progress updates and schedules.
- Participate in quoting, R&D, manufacturing/design reviews, product signoffs, and process improvement activities.
Requirements
- Proven ability to interpret technical drawings and follow detailed specifications and SOPs.
- Working knowledge of solder types/temperatures, annealing for various metals, and solder cleanup techniques.
- Skilled with torches, laser weld, planishing tools, chasing tools, drills, lathes, presses, and other fabrication equipment.
- Strong attention to detail, in-process QA focus, and ability to meet production targets.
- Experience mentoring or training apprentices and collaborating with engineering and new product teams.
