Summary
Lead merchandising financial planning for merchandise categories, translating customer strategy into financial and buy plans while operating in a hybrid headquarters environment. Manage buy planning calendars, oversee in-season and upfront planning for multiple channels and drive process improvements and adoption across the merchandising team.
Responsibilities
- Manage the buy planning calendar and ensure timely creation and execution of upfront and in-season plans
- Provide guidance to improve sales, inventory management and profitability using objective and subjective inputs
- Ensure financial planners develop executable plans for FLS Direct and location levels
- Oversee planning and support for emerging businesses such as Direct
- Maintain liquidity and ensure strategies align with financial plan boundaries
- Direct performance, scenario and ad hoc analysis to identify risks and opportunities
- Develop and implement business process improvements leveraging reporting and analysis
- Participate in special projects including reclasses and event pilots
- Lead training and development of new financial planners
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 5 years retail planning inventory management or related experience
- At least 2 years retail buying experience
- Minimum 1 year retail experience interacting directly with customers
- Expertise in merchandise category and understanding of retail service environment
- Proficiency in MS Windows and Office suite
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Pendence of Nordstrom experience preferred
