Summary
The Tool Maker / CNC Machinist will support production and new product development by creating, maintaining, and fabricating tooling and fixtures. Reporting to the Tooling Manager, the role requires setup and operation of manual and CNC equipment, collaboration with internal teams, and a focus on quality and on-time delivery.
Responsibilities
- Follow all safety procedures and report incidents promptly
- Set up and operate manual and CNC milling machines, lathes, grinders and DRO equipment
- Design, fabricate and maintain fixtures, progressive and single-stage tools, and molds
- Support new product introduction activities and fabricate samples for development
- Collaborate with management, tool room staff and internal customers to meet production requests and quality standards
- Participate in continuous improvement and 5S activities to improve efficiency and reduce costs
Requirements
- Technical proficiency with tooling and toolroom processes and ability to read technical prints
- Proven experience operating manual toolroom equipment and CNC machines; CAD/CAM experience and familiarity with DRO operated equipment
- High school diploma or GED; demonstrated intermediate English reading and writing and basic math skills
- Ability to train, motivate and provide direction to others
- Preferred: some college or bachelor’s degree, Rhino/SolidWorks/Mastercam experience, micro-milling and machining metals, progressive or single operation tooling experience, bilingual Spanish a plus
