Job Description

Marc Jacobs International, powered by the creative genius of Marc Jacobs, seeks a Director – Merchandising, Leather Goods to join the Global Merchandising team based in its New York City (SoHo) headquarters. Marc Jacobs International is part of the Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (Lvmh) fashion division and operates in the wholesale and direct to consumer retail markets.

The Director of Merchandising will leverage proficiency in merchandising to drive the Mainline and Outlet Leather goods product and assortment strategy globally.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, execute, and communicate seasonal product strategies to meet or exceed financial goals of Leather goods business units
  • Build effective partnerships with team members in Pd, Design, Planning, Retail Merchandising, Visual Merchandising, and Marketing – influence the behavior and opinions of others using pertinent data and customer insights to drive results
  • Manage cross-functional team relationships by providing direction on vision, strategy, and meetings to unify the team toward a common goal
  • Maintain a deep understanding of overall business – performance, product/style, accounts, regions – identify challenges and opportunities based on sales results and competitive landscape
  • Develop deep understanding of target consumer needs; drive ongoing market and consumer feedback to maximize product relevance for target customer segments across all markets
  • Work with commercial teams to brief in specific product needs, including exclusives and promotional needs to manage product lifecycle and financial goals
  • Manage retail price setting, target costs and margin goals
  • Oversee go to market strategy including all market preparation milestones & materials
  • Train, develop, and retain both direct and in-direct reports
  • Promote an environment that fosters the ideas of others and supports ongoing collaboration to execute business strategies; measures own success by that of the team’s success
  • Effectively manage and support the career development process of direct reports to ensure job satisfaction and future talent development

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience Leather goods, with experience in both Mainline and Outlet channels
  • Excellent product sensibility & thorough knowledge of Luxury & Contemporary market trends
  • Detailed knowledge of the product development and production process
  • Ability to leverage real-time customer insight and analysis to drive customer-centric outcomes
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to engage and influence internally and externally
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to successfully navigate in such an environment
  • Proven track record of building successful relationships at all levels of an organization
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Team oriented with the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to take the initiative, ownership, and accountability for business
  • Fluent in Excel, Ppt, Plm & Erp Systems
  • In compliance with the Order of New York City’s Commissioner of Health and Mental Hygiene to Require Covid-19 Vaccination in the Workplace, candidates will need to provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination by their first day of employment.
