Clerk, Shipping and Receiving

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk handles merchandise and other goods arriving or leaving the Shipping and Receiving Department.

Specific responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:

• Unloads merchandise from delivery trucks using safe lifting techniques
• Drives forklift, hand truck, flatbed truck and pump jacks with care and attention
• Deposit incoming boxes at designated locations in an orderly fashion
• Checks the total number of boxes received against the quantities listed on packing slips, invoices, packing slips or any other documentation accompanying a package
• Thoroughly checks all boxes whose seal has been broken or altered
• Lists discrepancies, missing items or damaged merchandise and notifies immediate manager
• Chooses the shipping method and completes the appropriate documentation
• Registers content manually or electronically
• Pack items and affix labels and shipping instructions
• Checks the customer’s invoice and determines if the delivery costs have been charged
• Ensures that the service complies with all customs formalities in force for any delivery outside of Canada
• Pack the goods and load the trucks
• Collects and returns touch-ups to appropriate departments
• Picks up and puts orders for supplies on the shelves in accordance with purchase orders
• Gather hangers from departments and store them properly
• Picks up cardboard boxes, garbage and recyclables and disposes of them appropriately
• Observes all health and safety policies and requirements

The ideal candidate possesses:

• A high school diploma
• 2-3 years of experience in a shipping and receiving environment
• Bilingual in French and English

Shipper and Receiver

The Shipper and Receiver handles merchandise and other goods coming in and out of the Shipping Department.

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

• Unload merchandise from trucks using safe lifting techniques
• Operate forklifts, handcarts, flatbeds and pump jacks with care and attention
• Place incoming boxes in designated area in an orderly fashion
• Check total number of boxes received against waybills, invoices, packing slips or other documents
• Carefully inspect all boxes where seal has been broken or tampered with
• Log discrepancies, shortages or damages and inform the direct manager
• Determine method of shipping and prepare appropriate paperwork
• Record contents manually or in computer systems
• Pack goods and affix labels and shipping instructions
• Check customer delivery sales bills for fee payment
• Ensure accurate customs procedures are followed for all out of country shipments
• Pack and load trucks
• Pick up and deliver alterations to appropriate departments
• Pick supply orders and deliver to departments as per completed requisitions
• Collect hangers from Cash Wraps and store appropriately
• Collect and dispose of cardboard, garbage and recyclables
• Comply with all Health & Safety policies and requirements

The ideal candidate:

• High School diploma
• 2+ years of experience in a Shipping/Receiving environment
